Stop Google home controlling Sony tv

by Mahargi

We often use Google home mini speakers to set kitchen timers. If we say ok Google stop it seems to be a 50/50 chance if the timer will stop or the whatver tv app we are using closes. Normally this isn't that big of deal, but if we are using out cable on demand feature it often makes us restart the show from the beginning with no way to skip ahead.

I just want my tv to not listen to voice commands I give my speaker. I have turned off the mic on my remote but it seems the it is all interconnected.

In the Google Home app, make sure that the TV and the speakers are assigned to separate "rooms" even if they actually are in the same room. It's clunky but the only way I have found to solve this problem.

Assistant uses the context of which room you are in to share commands between devices, for example if I'm in my living room and say "turn on the lights" it only turns on the living room lights. This is nice... most of the time 🙃

Pro tip: just say stop. No hey or ok needed.

your tv probably has a mic. turn off that. my hisense has a mic on both the remote and the tv.
