Issues with 4:3 CRT Display on Mecool KM9 Pro. (Don't downvote me or ask me to upgrade)

by fruitbat2005

Hi, I want to know how I can get my Mecool KM9 Pro to output 4:3 stretched. The reason is, the Mecool KM9 Pro exclusively outputs when the resolution is manually set to 640x480 via ADB, anamorphic widescreen output with the 4:3 picture letterboxed. That sounds confusing, but basically when I connect it to my CRT, there are thin black bars on each side of the screen, with a horizontally squished 4:3 picture. The obvious solution is to get the device to output to the internal analog output stretched 4:3 which will then be squished horizontally back to the correct 4:3 aspect ratio by the anamorphic widescreen composite output. How do I get the device to output 640x480 stretched to 16:9? Please don't ask me why or tell me to upgrade, I use these old displays as a hobby.

The thing is, that problem is not from Mecool but the Android OS itself, Google thinks the 100% of population now use 16:9 displays so they haven't bothered to add any options in the firmware for the boxes with the analog video output that should help to correct the problems with old CRT TVs.

Sadly I haven't found a solution for all videos, so what I'm doing is using Kodi to watch 4:3 content. I tried it with Zack Snyder's Justice League using the Hbox Max add-on, adjusted some video settings, and the side black bars were gone.
