Has Netflix been killing anyone else's AndroidTV's performance lately?

Starting about a month ago my AndroidTV performance would go to shit. It was super laggy and apps would crash endlessly. I would do a restart from the settings but the UI smoothness would only last for a few hours. I was on the verge of doing a factory reset when I realized apps could still be running in the background even on the home screen. So I systematically started force killing apps and have since determined that it was Netflix causing the issue. I would slowly stumble my way into the apps screen and the moment I force stopped Netflix, the UI would pop back to its normal, fluid self. Has this been happening to anyone else? I'm on a Sony Bravia with AndroidTV built in, if that matters.

Yes, on both a TCL and Philips TV. Like you, everything works fine for a few hours after a restart. Then Netflix will suddenly crash and the TV will freeze for a minute or two and then remain laggy until a restart.

Just to report back.. yes, I no longer have any lag now. So this must be a problem with a lot of AndroidTVs. I have a HiSense TV. I suspect it must be something to do with how the home page fetches data for Netflix to display, but I could be wrong. I just uninstalled updates & disabled Netflix entirely and the lag spikes are gone.

Thanks, this has been a little aggravating but I wouldn’t have thought it was Netflix that was doing it. You saved me a ton of time lol

I’ll be trying this because I’ve been having the same kind of lag started recently and it always was perfectly fine. I’m just gonna remove Netflix altogether and I’ll report back if it helps.

I recently had terrible lag and freezing happening too. Thought it was just me, factory reset, and no change. I'll try uninstalling Netflix and see if it continues. Thank you!
