I don't know why everyone is saying no, because yes, you can. I've been downvoted elsewhere in the comments and I have no idea why. It's been posted many times. Examples: here , here , and here

In short: block androidtvwatsonfe-pa.googleapis.com

I blocked that single domain at the router level and haven't had the ads since, and Play Store functionality hasn't changed. Still updating apps, can still search and download apps, persists through reboots, etc.

**EDIT: After blocking said domain, you must then clear the cache/data of Android TV Home and reboot.

It's kindof messed up we have to do these messed up tricks to block ads on our own devices. This shouldn't be legal.

Create a child profile with no restrictions and use that and there will be no ads.

Also app only mode is another option if your device supports that. It'll be in settings somewhere.

Probably if you search every other post in this sub. Otherwise check r/nvidiashield or r/shieldandroidtv

The short answer is no, not without breaking Google Play Store, but there are workarounds (changing the launcher).

But point break is fucking awesome

It’s Google, what did you expect?

I have a Pihole, but I don't have an Android tv device anymore. Would that stop this?

lostmymeds

Adb and alternative launcher. No looking back

Am I the only one who isn't bothered by the ads? I assume it just shows content from the services you're subscribed to/have apps installed for?

The Discover tab is also great for when you're having trouble figuring out to watch because it combines content from multiple (not all) services and breaks them down into genre categories.

Point break tho? That is an amazing movie!

Weird this Home Screen is different than mine and I don’t get annoying ads in it

"Lets crack on" YT channel has a tweak to uninstall Android TV updates and keep the old interface. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZF6E844ki8

Look for "apps only mode" in settings.

You can filter the ads on dns level from all your home devices connected to a single router by using Adguard home or pihole.

Turn off wifi and don’t plug in to Ethernet

Look up Tech Doctor on YouTube and you’ll find a tutorial for installing the Wolf launcher.

Buy a better TV, from a manufacturer that isn't corrupt and doesn't plan to sell ad space in your living room.
