You can even have ambilight on your PS5, but that obv. Needs a couple of extra steps.
This is my setup, running on the Nvidia Shield.
Why not a cheap USB powered led strip. Plug it into the USB port on the TV and it should turn on and off with the TV, so no programming needed. Most you can set to a specific color. Like this
I can't help with the LED but wanted to say that Scrubs is amazing. Good day.
Govee has a few solutions that might work.
Turn off ambilight. Install one of these: https://www.biaslighting.com/
Lol similar just happened to me. Was super surprised how different it looks wall mounted vs on a tv stand. Mine is just a simple white led strip for bias lighting but turned it off until I find a new solution. Will keep an eye on this thread.
I bought the Govee immersion set a couple of months ago and have loved it. Everything else in the home is Hue, but I couldn't justify the price for the HDMI sync box as well as the expensive gradient strip.
Why not simple LED strips?
Will setting up ambilight with an arduino board work on apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime etc.?
Not a real solution, but a workaround: disable the top lights (if that's even possible) then it's better balanced.
Insignia led strip from Best Buy. Their 16ft and trim able & comes w remote control
DIY easy and great results:
Arduino Nano
Raspberry Pi
ARGB LED strip
2 Power supplies

Hyperion Android Grabber: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.abrenoch.hyperiongrabber
Or just buy something like this and install the free app onto your Android TV from the play store above: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002763506087.html
The only limitation with this method is it will not work on Netflix, etc. If you wanted it to work on all content, you would need to spend extra on an HDMI splitter box which is a whole other rabbit hole as you would need to find one that matches your needed spec. Do you need Dolby Vision? Atmos? etc
Source: Got this running on my Nvidia Shield. Looks very good and doesn't break the bank.
i think you are supposed to have it at least 15cm from the well for the best effect
Get any ambient lights off of Amazon but Govee is the most popular for some reason.
Just get a hue strip, you can set it to work with the TV and be seemless, can even specify that it is on the bottom. Everything else will look wrong when the other three sides are synced and something like Hyperion will cost more and be less useful.
Even if overpriced, Hue is the way to go. Or just don't put anything there? I don't think the TV outputs any signal to that sector.
Hyperion on a pi 4 with addressible LEDs. Let me know if you want a guide.
Sound bar? 😅
I had seen some Ambilight setups using Yeelight LED strips, which are quite cheap.
I had tried this years ago using one Yeelight color bulb which I happened to have laying around, and I was quite impressed with how easy the setup was, and intended to get the LED strips.
I remember you could create "zones" and the more zones the more impressive it was from the Youtube tutorial.
I remember playing around with a couple of different programs which set everything up in just a matter of minutes - again, years ago, but you should be able to find something online for sure!
I haven’t tried them yet, but Wyze has inexpensive LED lights https://wyze.com/wyze-lightstrip.html
Govee immersion light bars. Will work perfect but it does have a camera. Some people dispise it
A duo pack of "philips hue play lightbars"
They cost around €100 over here(netherlands), for a duo pack. They work absolutely great. In my opinion that is your best choice.
But you need a hue bridge also to get them working with your tv. You can link the bridge to your tv in the tv settings.
