Is passthrough even worth it?

by dankasan1992

So I'm struggling to get audio passthrough on MiBox S + Samsung Q80T + LG SNH5 for a few weeks and get terrible lip-sync issues (I even bought 2 HDMI 2.1 cables in a desperate hope to solve it). So I rage-quit and switched back to decoding on the device. Is there really much that I miss on a budget soundbar like this without passthrough? Want to hear your ideas on this. The only thing I noticed so far is that the audio became a little bit more quite, have to add more volume on a remote, and that seems to be it. Anyways, thanks for sharing your experience!

Edit. The problem was solved in a very unexpected way. I just tried VLC and it worked flawlessly. I get delays in any other player (literally ANY player) but VLC handles the delay somehow automatically. Miracle!

Yes I will take a quick video on how to fix that issue

Thanks, man! But it seems that I already played with latency delay in settings + I'm not using optical, HDMI ARC all the way!

The funny with is that when I reboot MiBox and play video with ViMu Player - the first video goes without a delay, the second one and the ones that follow though get out of sync...
