Wow! That's disappointing.
This was an NBA game that aired a week ago, with a live tag slapped on it.
Google TV is showing this rerun of last weeks's basketball game as Live just because it is what is currently playing on NBA TV.
Maybe I'm wrong, but that red LIVE tag should be reserved for actual live TV - like if the game was actually being played right now. Pre-recorded shows that are currently playing as a part of scheduled programming should not have the LIVE tag.
The Olympics are shown live, use it for that. Football games AND basketball games are shown live, use it for that. But don't just slap a LIVE tag on anything that is currently what's playing on the channel. I get that "it's playing live on the channel, hence the tag" but isn't that already implied by nature of the guide? LIVE tag is for live events, not re-runs or regularly scheduled programming.
I'm saying that they should not be marked as LIVE because they are not Live television.
The live television should be reserved for live television only, like sports games or live news/shows.
I understand that they are live on the channel and that they show you how far into the movie it is. But unless it's a special feature where the director is commenting along with the movie in real time as it's being aired, then it is not deserving of the LIVE tv tag.
Again, the point of this thread is to point out the culture of misuse of that LIVE tv tag. I'm looking at a tv guide. I'd rather the button that says "LIVE" tell me what is actually be aired right now on live TV (like the middle of a sports game).
It should not be used for pre-recorded scheduled programming. Get a different tag or remove it entirely. I'm looking at a TV guide, I don't need you to have a tag that tells me it's on air right now, I already assume all of it is.
A red LIVE box implies it is being live on air broadcasting right now. Youtube uses this SAME livetag for streams that are broadcasted live. Google TV should not be misusing this tag, it is inconsistent among your products, confusing, and misleading.
Everything wrong with Google as a company. Heavy statement, I'd say spying on its users is a way bigger problem than that
