i need help to update my android tv

i got a smart tv as a gift

the company is sony but it honestly feels like a chinese tv

the android version is 5.1.1

its not updating on its own after i press on network update and i don't know where to download manual update

also its only connecting to 2.4ghz wifi instead of 5ghz

please help

if there is no way to update it because maybe its a chinese tv then is there a way to download higher version of android tv

My friend, I'm afraid you don't actually have Android TV installed on your TV but instead an old version of Android for phones and tablets. Get a streaming device instead, it'll be cheaper and easier to fix your problem

Sony probably doesn't support that TV anymore, so there's no way to update it.

Atleast write what the backside of TV says, like model number etc. With the amount of information you provided, its impossible to say anything for sure.
