But..but they're recommendations.

Sucks that the collective sigh of most users will lead to more and more ads.

jeffdelta

Look, we recommend you watch this trailer on YouTube. Then we recommend you give a review of the trailer on YouTube. We also recommend you stop holding us to our word about these recommendations.....just watch the damn trailer. Also, would be great if you clicked on the marvel ads we will place on every web site you think about viewing. Then be sure to talk about it so can listen to it..... I mean, listen for "Ok, Google".

Not when you use a custom launcher it doesn't.

titooo7

Google took those "recommendations" to the next level, lol.

I'm happy I use Flauncher so I don't have to see those ads on my TV screen. Although they might come up with something on Android 11 or 12 so we can't escape from those ads.

Not ads though. /s

Sure, and it won't be long until they start showing erectile dysfunction ads too. The slippery slope argument is often derided as facile but if it looks like a duck....

akisnet

Wait for Hyundai, BMW, IKEA and YSL ads... 😅

Are these now based on habits or just random like before? Today I have iron man, suicide squad, shang chi, the matrix and some Hulu show. That's 4/5 but the gf uses Hulu so maybe 5/5?

Try enabling apps only mode in accounts settings page (click on your username)

They are just pushing propaganda by forcing ads and recommendations that fit their narrative and clutter your device... Using your device to try and force you to watch or buy what they want you to.

Are there options available for debloating or even root? Or did google hard-lock the bootloader? This is some bait and switch bull that I didn't think even google was capable of. Here we are.

I have a 4yo OLED tv. I don't remember exactly how much I paid for it but it was way more than $50. I get ads. But hey, they give me an option to "limit ad tracking" and I can "reset ad ID" whatever that does. Thanks

So much for "if you paid for it you're the customer"

When this new Android TV UI gets on Xiaomi MI Box S? Is it gonna caming at all?

MustardOrMayo404

Oh. ugh. I think Google has gone too far with that. First, I think it promotes content on services that the user doesn't have the app for or isn't subscribed to. Now they're promoting stuff that can't be watched on the device itself. I feel as though Google is selling that space on the top of the home screen through Google Ads but only to specific companies.

I bet that if Google Singapore decided to enable the new UI, I'd probably end up getting ads for stuff from streaming services that don't have content I'm interested in watching, such as VIU.

For those of you that hates the ads like i do you can downgrade the android tv launcher. Here is the last build before the ads https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/android-tv-home-android-tv/android-tv-home-android-tv-2-0-10-307630529-f-release/android-tv-home-2-0-10-307630529-f-android-apk-download/
