Mibox 3 Remote working erratically

by sarvranjan

Hello Everyone,

I have mibox 3 (Android 9) and since last week it's remote has started working erratically.

It randomly stops working,

sometimes if I press some button it takes forever to respond &

sometimes it keeps reacting as if that button was pressed for a long time despite being pressed only once.

I have tried:

Android TV remote App, Different new Xiaomi remote

but the results are same.

Is this related to some new upgrade? Has anyone else faced this issue recently too?

I have tried factory reset, new batteries, different remote & Android TV app for mobile. Nothing has helped me yet.

Have you tried simply changing batteries?

Try a factory reset if it's enough of a bother.

Mine has been a bit funny recently as well. Won't always bring the box out of sleep (I've needed to pull the plug on it), but automatically reconnects once the box is restarted... I did an update fairly recently and it was working perfectly before that. Does that sound like your issue?

If you tried different remotes and the results are the same, then the issue isn't the remote, it's the box. And since you have factory reset the box, the issue isn't the box, it's the software.

I used to have ALL kinds of issues like this with my mibox 3 while I was on Android 9. There were times where I had to literally unplug the box every time I wanted to use it.

Solution? Downgrade to Android 8 and never look back (or I guess...forward).

Here is a post of mine where I discussed how I got it done in some details, there are also some people who commented with their slight alterations.

Ever since I did this downgrade on my Mibox it has been FANTASTIC. A problem-free device that runs perfectly and consistently day after day. Trust me, unless there is some specific feature in Android 9 that you need, going back to a stable build and just staying there is amazing.
