Best android tv box under 100 ?

by faredd

Thinking about Mi box, Chromecast or Fire Stick, despite youtubers not even mentioning Chromecast or Fire Stick, they usually only post the Mi Box as 2nd place after Nvidia Shield

HesThePianoMan

Chromecast with Google TV is currently the best

That or maybe a used Nvidia shield

I'd go for the CC w GoogleTV, but I'm also quite happy with the Mi Box S.

Personally I absolutely despise the FireTV devices and I'd avoid them at all cost but that might just be me.

Chromecast with Android TV , Best device for The budget

Mad_dog97

The chromecast is the best for the money as far as I'm concerned. The Firestick is good too, but I like the "raw" android interface better than Amazon's. If money's no object the Nvidia shield is the best, but for $50 the chromecast is really good.

The chromecast with google tv i awesome.

kyle10

MeCool KM2, Google Chromecast with google tv.

Elf-Lord

FireTV 4k is good, Mi-Box is also good, and Google certified, FireTv 4k is not Google certified. But for IPTV that does nor matter.

Google Chromecast with Google TV is also a good device, just usually a bit more expensive.

I have mibox 4k ,, but not the best for heavy use and large and 4k movies some lagging ,, save money and get nvidia shield 2019 or older

skeptic_always

I have a few nVidia Shields, a couple Miboxes, a FireTV stick 4k and of course a box of older stuff going back to one of the first Roku devices. I recently bought my parents a couple FireTV sticks to replace older FireTV devices that were getting long in the tooth. I stuck with FireTV for them because they are used to the interface and will never use more than 2 or 3 apps. For my money and my house, the only two options today would be Shield TV or Chromecast with Google TV. I do not have a Chromecast w/Google TV (yet), but based on reviews it looks like the perfect $50 guest/office device.

mr_larry_hyman

what about that cheap walmart box?

MiguelSanchezEsq

i have the fire tv 4k.

after a couple years, your amazon device is going to get bloated with updates and crap you never asked for. best to buy something with minimal branding or support.

If you can buy it where you are, then I highly recommend the Nokia Streaming Box 8000 Nokia Streaming Box 8000 . It has the same specs as the Google Chromecast with Google TV, but the box has better connectivity options and the remote control is a full one, ie with a complete set of buttons.

I recently picked up the Verizon Stream TV (latest version, 2) for $70 and it's pretty damn good for that price. Much better processor than the Tivo Stream 4k and Chromecast. Performance-wise, it runs circles around those two. Remote is really nice, too.

The only downside - and it may be a deal breaker for some people - is it uses a custom Verizon-branded launcher. I wasn't able to figure out how to get the standard Android TV launcher to work but I did manage to get the Google TV Launcher X to work. I reverted back to the Verizon launcher. It's not great, but it's fairly usable.

I might write a review about it if people are interested. There really isn't much information about it out there, which made me hesitant to order it, but I'm glad I did. It's well worth the money.

Edit: I can't believe I'm being downvoted for this comment. I'm not a shill - I'm a regular commenter on this subreddit and it was a legitimate suggestion. I found out about the device via that androidtv-guide.com site maintained by one of the other users of this sub. I don't normally get upset by downvotes, but JFC, if someone spends a few minutes of their time to share unbiased information with the community, you don't downvote them. It's just fucking rude. If you don't agree, move on.

+1 for the ematic Jetstream. I just ordered one, waiting for it to arrive. More powerful with newer version of Android than the Xiaomi
