To those who purchase Movies on Google Play, what makes you prefer it to the other retailers who offer all the latest standards. Getting fed up with the lack of common HDR on all Newer GP Movies.

Google rewards and Google play points = free movies and shows, that's why.

I don't expect any of these digital purchase systems to last more than a couple years. A one-time rental fee is fine, but I don't see the point paying more to own something that I don't really own and can be revoked at any time.

Buy the cheapest and only Movie Anywhere title.

The "money" I use is from Google Opinion Rewards. I used to spend it on music and books. But now it's only books and movies since GPM's demised.

HorrorReject

I buy movies on there and on other services. Depends on who has the best deals. I also love digital copy codes for that same reason. But I will never pay full price for anything, usually $5-$10 max unless it's some kind of bundle.

keungy

I only redeem on Google Play if I have a free code from it. For the very reason you mentioned.

livelifeontheveg

If you buy it in 4k with HDR absent do Movies Anywhere & other retailers really not offer it in HDR?

Cliffmode2000

Can watch on YouTube.

JaCoryDG

I don't purchase movies or TV shows. I just use certain side loaded apps to watch almost anything for free. Even TV channels.

So are Google Play Movies transitioning to ANOTHER HDR format? Like HDR10+ or whatever?

tb21666

They like spending money on things they never actually own, why do you think so many fools pay repeat, monthly fees for mere access to content that isn't theirs & can be changed/removed at any time?

Physical media, paid for once & ripped ad-free/with all the extras & commentaries for your network FTW.

EDIT: Apparently, some of you missed the "ripped" part that's clearly noted above..?

andreibrcg

is this movie any good?

What app are you viewing this in?

cjb110

Agreed, I generally prefer Google ecosystem over Apple, but the movies app is pretty terrible and hasn't been updated in years, I've not seen any HDR or 4k, Dolby Vision or Atmos support.

Apple on the otherhand has a passable app, with some good bargains and pricing, support for all the latest tech, and occasionally upgrades old formats to new ones for free. And now AppleTV is available on AndroidTV, I can't see myself switching back to Google Movies.

loop6719

I really don't care about 4K cuz I don't have a 4K TV and I don't really care about 1080p because I can barely see

XADEBRAVO

Why do you need HDR to enjoy good movies by the way?
