Can't search across apps

by evjamhar

Just bought a Hisense 55" Class U6G Series Quantum 4K ULED Android TV. When I use Google Assistant to search for something ("comedies" for example), I get the following message: "Search across all your TV apps. To do this, allow Google to share your request with your TV's apps. You can turn this setting off at any time in your TV settings. Learn more at..." with "Allow" and "No Thanks" as button options. However, when I try to click Allow, I get the confirmation sound, but nothing happens and the screen stays there. I have looked for the mentioned setting in the settings menu, but I can't find it. Any help?

You mean even after clicking on Allow and researching you get the same page?

Settings > Device Preferences > Google Assistant > Searchable Apps

The "Allow" still doesn't seem to work, but you can manually enable all the apps via the toggle.

Same Issue here on the Nvidia Shield... Any news how to fix?

I had the same problem. Nothing worked until I went into Settings >>> Device Preferences >>> About >>> Restart. One the TV reboots, you will need to wait several minutes for it to load all the apps and reconnect to your wifi and/or LAN connection. Once it reconnects, Google will finally work correctly to search your apps.
