Philips tv won’t let me accept the Freeview Play terms and conditions. iPlayer just crashes whenever I open it. Any ideas please?

by Horror-Biscotti1

I have had an ongoing issue with BBC iplayer on my 55PUS8204/12.

Whenever I click on the BBC iplayer app, it opens up the Freeview Play Accept Terms page. It says I need to accept the manufacturer’s terms before using the services and gives me the option to either “cancel” or “terms and conditions”. If I click “terms and conditions”, the app just closes and I’m back to the main apps page.

My Freeview channels are all working fine on the antenna. The wifi is connected to the TV with no issues on any other non-Freeview play apps.

Any idea how I fix this please?

Thanks!

EDIT:
I’ve fixed it! I just had to reinstall the tv. When you do that, it asks you to accept the Freeview terms at the start. All the apps are working now and the voice search function and the keyboard on the back of the remote works again.

I clicked the menu button on the remote then clicked frequent settings, all settings, general settings, reinstall tv

If it's just the iplayer it might need updating, or uninstall and reinstall it.

Not sure if you got to the bottom of this problem? I just bought a Phillips TV and it arrived yesterday. I had the same problem as you. I have Virgin TV so Cable and I would imagine that should you have SKY then it may also be a problem. I google the question and I got this feed....so not helpful as no one had an answer. I google other questions and it made reference that you needed to connect an Aerial and run Freeview Play and load the digital channels. This then seemed to accept the T&Cs. I then was able to easily log into BBCiPlayer and ITV Hub etc etc. I was fortunate that I had an aerial socket upstairs which I only use for my bedroom TV (freeview) so connected it up and it all works perfectly. So now the TV is downstairs and unconnected from the aerial and back connected to my Virgin Tivo Box and I no longer have any issues about accepting any T&Cs. I guess if you don't have an aerial connected on the roof then I would imagine you can also go round to a friend's house and do the initial installation there, then once you know the channels on freeview are listing the log onto BBCiPlayer and log in then just go back home and use your Cable/Sky tv box. Bonkers I know but it worked for me. If you are using only an aerial then this has not been that helpful and hope you find a solution.

Update the TV software, should fix it.

Fixed it. Press the menu button on the remote, go to advanced settings, freeview options, then you can accept the terms

I couldn’t quite find this ‘freeview’ options bit, have you got a Phillips TV as well ?

Same issue here, cannot accept the Freeview T&C’s, I have been looking for a while no joy.

I have the exact same problem but I have a TCL android tv and can't figure what to do, if I hit the factory reset option it will wipe everything so that will not work for me ,anyone have a solution ?
