Cannot log into Google services on Android TV

Hi,

I've recently bought a TCL 43C725 TV. The TV itself is working fine, however Google on it has a serious problem for me.

I can use Youtube, Prime Video and Netflix no problem, regardless of being logged in or not. I can also use Google Assistant, BUT ONLY WHEN NOT LOGGED IN. Finally, I cannot use anything else basically, because Google Play Store doesn't work. It just refuses to work when I log in, and of course it needs a login. I cannot download Spotify, Movies from Google Play Movies or anything else for that matter.

Does anyone have anything that could help me? I've already restarted and changed google accounts, nothing helped. Not even a factory reset. Removing updates from Google Play Store app and restarting also did not help.

Edit: u/DjangoScrabble and u/Domchekas have a solution to the problem. For me US didn't work, but UK did.

I bought xiaomi mi box s 4k today, netflix and youtube works perfectly and google play just refuses to. I thought I am only one having this problem since I can't find anything on google about it..

I had this exact same problem!

I'm not sure what your region is, but I currently live in Poland. To solve this issue, I factory reset my TV and when it asked for my region I wrote United Kingdom

Okay so somehow I got it working! Just erased everything and set my region united states, clicked YES on location and somehow i got different set up menu and in the end i got it working

I have exactly the same problem. Just today received my Mi Stick and used way too much time to try and fix it. Good to know that it's not just me who's having problems, fingers crossed there's a fix and I won't have to return it.
