Android TV screaming "Something went wrong, please try again in a few seconds" in the middle of the night

by FaxPayne

We just got our Android TV. We only use it for Netflix, Hulu, and some Youtube and besides some occasional buffering suffer no problems when in use. Android and Alexa assistants turned off, we don't chromecast to it. Almost every day, usually when we're sleeping, the TV will scream at max volume "Something went wrong, please try again in a few seconds".

Is there any way to figure out what's causing this to stop it? Can we force the TV off instead of it just being in sleep mode? Do we need to just set the volume to zero EVERY TIME we're done using the TV?

I'm a chime in here and say my Sony x95g just randomly blurted it out this morning th 4am...

I've not disable Google assistant to see how that goes.

I've checked logs on router and tv to see what was going on but no trace.

If happens again I'm a try a reset.

I've been having the same issues with my cheapo Kogan-branded TV.

Haven't yet worked out what is causing it to blast it out in the middle of the night (has happened several times so far) but we've resorted to using a smart plug on a schedule to turn it off at the wall each night for some peace.

Glad to finally find someone else having this issue. We've been hearing it around 4am for the past few weeks and had no idea where it was coming from. We thought it was our Google Home, so we unplugged it at night, but we still heard it. Then we thought it was our Nest Minis, so we set those to an outlet timer, but we still heard it at night. We finally heard it during the day and could tell it was coming from our sound bar connected to our Android TV.

As a temporary fix we've set the TV on an outlet timer so its turned off during the night so we can get some peaceful rest. We still don't know what exactly is causing the error or how to fix it, but at least now we have an idea where to start.

The TV we have is a 50" Phillips Android TV. We have multiple smart speakers (Nest minis/Google Home) in the house, have 1 wifi router+modem on Xfinity and lots of other devices on the network. We don't have any Google Assistant routines for 4am, and the voice hasn't always come on at exactly that time. Usually it was between 4-5am, but it happened at 1am and 4pm recently.

Here's a video (audio) of it, my wife was chatting on MarcoPolo when it happened. You can hear me in the background, lol.

if anyone has figured out a fix for this other than a smart plug, let me know! it took me months to even figure out it was the TV and not the google home (which i finally unplugged). it’s SO loud when it happens and it always wakes me up.

The problem is the Google speech service. I had the same problem and found a way to fix it. Just go to settings - apps - look for system app called "Speech Services by Google" and disable the app. Works fine for me. The problem was, that my wired Ethernet connection interrupts while the TV is in standby.

got the same issue with a Sony Google TV. Feel like Google is spying in midnight. It must be doing something at that time when the "sth went wrong" alert was triggered

Are you sure that's not an Echo device?
