I’ve been trying to download Paramount+ since it became available in Aus. My CCwGTV says it’s not compatible with my device. I can cast to it with my mobile but I can’t download the app at all. I did complain to google and I got a call from some tech support dude in the US. He says they’re aware of the issue but it’s an app developer issue. This doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me and I seem to be in a very small group having this issue. But until there’s a new firmware update I’ll keep having this problem. Any suggestions, anyone…?
I've been having issues with this too.
My primary playback ecosystem is via Android TV (Sony 2015 BRAVIA) and everything works fine there. I open the Paramount+ app, find the content, good to go.
However I just recently downloaded the Google TV app on my phone to give it a shot, and noticed I must have already at some point linked Paramount+ (through Google Home), cause there it was already in my linked accounts in the Google TV app.
That said, whenever I looked up ANY content that would be on P+, it wouldn't show up as an option. Even searching P+ originals, it would say the only way to get to it was to buy episodes from Google Play.
I dove into my account linking, and noticed "paramountplus.com" had no logo with it, so I figured maybe it was a bad link, and tried unlinking the account.
I went back into the Google TV app with the goal of relinking it there: and Paramount+ wasn't even listed anymore as an option (it was when it was linked).
I can only speculate that perhaps P+ isn't truly supported on Google TV yet, which is unfortunate considering it seems like it was going to be. I eventually figured out how to relink the accounts (I did it through Google Home again), but the issue remains - Google TV does not actually consider P+ a valid content source, despite having linked accounts.
I guess I'll just stick with the good ol' Android TV app-based approach for a bit longer!
Just in case someone stumbles across this thread and answer, I’ve managed to fix my problem. Turns out my google account was still set to the UK. I’m currently living in Australia and for some unknown reason this geolocation setting caused a compatibility glitch with the app. It was pretty simple to fix and a simple google search of ‘change country settings in google account’ will most likely bring up a solution for anyone experiencing the same issue I had.
Assuming you're talking about Chromecast with Google TV & its integration to streaming services; Paramount+ is included, according to this list.
