Basically I was trying to get my iOS devices to connect to my android tv but it wouldn’t show in the android tv remote app and I uninstalled updates on the android tv remote services app to the stock android version and I checked in the android tv remote app on my iPad and my tv showed up and I could control it again
That is the only workaround for now...iOS users will get the new remote function in Google Home app.
