Tivo 4K stream help

by nahcekimcm
  1. What is that button off the edge for?

  2. Since there is a extra usbc port and the microusb is only for power, assume the slot is for storage expansion . Can one load extra apps on there with usbc thumb drive or is apps limited to hardware storage only?

  3. How does one turn off the device? The remote power button keeps turning my tv off, while i want tv on for something else. Can’t seem to configure it like chromecast where the power button turns off chromecast only

1- not sure which button. 2- yes, but my experience is that when i use it, the Tivo reboots randomly. Since i don’t need it, i took it out. 3- since all is governed by CEC, try turning CEC off

The device can't be turned off. It can only sleep. A USB drive can be used for expanded device storage with the right hub and drive. Haven't bothered to do it myself though.

  1. Don't know what button you are referring too.

  2. Yes, you can add a SanDisk USB-C Dual-Drive GO thumb drive to expand the internal storage, or a USB-C_to_Micro-SDcard Reader plus an SDcard to increase internal storage. During setup of the drive or card it will be formatted to only be used with TiVo and Data will be migrated to new storage and all future app installs will automatically be installed to the new storage.

  3. The device setup that goes through programming the remote buttons (power/volume/input), will either program remote using CEC or IR codes to power-off only the TV or AVR, to just turn-off TiVo you will need a button mapper app to program a button (multi-press/long-press) to open the internal Android "Power-Menu" to then power-off device. Also, make sure the {One_Key_Power_Off} setting under HDMI-CEC settings is switched Off, if it's left On when you do use the remote Power button then a command is sent over CEC to all connected devices to turn-off/suspend/sleep to whatever can receive CEC inputs. The TiVo sips power 1W to 5 Watts which is less than most light bulbs, IMO leaving it On isn't something to worry about, just exit apps before turning Off TV so no auto-play app feature will continue playing content while screen is off.
