by trilis

Just bougtht LG C1 OLED, gonan be using for PLEX, Youtube, Spotify, IPTV. So the question comes do I need android TV? Also I will hook this tv to my stereo, if I would like to play FLAC I think would be better to get android tv?
FYI: I can get used Nvidia shield 4k for 120eur

Shield is amazing tbh. Only annoying thing is that it cannot play HDR videos on YouTube

If you can get a Shield, whatever the price, retail or used, get one. I haven't used WEBos so I don't know what all apps are developed for it. The best IPTV clients and Plex clients are on Android TV, IMO

Looks like LG's WebOS supports PLEX. I'm pretty sure PLEX trans-codes FLAC files to a compressed format. Spotify looks like a nope. I don't know anything about IPTV.

You don't NEED android tv if thats all you wanna do but a shield is much faster and a lot easier to use those apps with.

Buy a TV for its TV quality such as picture quality and sound quality. Any kind of upscaling features. ..

If you want an Android TV device buy a box , there are so many out there to choose from you don't need a shield. You just need whatever fits your budget and can run the apps you want to run.

You will likely go through a few Android TV boxes throughout the life of your actual TV

I have a tv android and works well. Although sometimes we meet latency because of network connection, it's a good budget for entertainment in comparison with conventional tv.
