Do major apps on Android TV use a standardized system media player or custom?

I understand that Roku apps mostly use the Roku OS media player. Is it similar on Android? Do most of the major apps on Android TV, such as Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, etc, also use a standard player built into Android or do they all (or some) implement their own custom player?

I know Plex uses exoplayer. Dont know about the others you mention

They probably all have proprietary DRM. Very likely the apps are self contained and use no system player. Maybe some codecs.

It's not similar on Android TV. All the apps you mentioned are streaming apps & they work independently. No "player" involved.
