Has anyone updated thier mi box s recently ? I think about a month ago they released a update which bricked people devices which I didn't apply, however I am really thinking to do it right now since it claims it fixes "media streaming service" which I am hoping fixed the Plex random buffering issues

The update bricked my Mi Box but I wasn't too unhappy to replace it with a Chromecast with Google TV. I had issues with it passing through compatible audio with frustrating unpredictability. It was also slower than the Chromecast. I am still using a Mi Box 3 in another room and I won't update it. It works fine for streaming services.

To elaborate on the plex buffering issue, few months ago i started experiencing buffering issues on Plex streaming despite the fact nothing has changed. Not the location of my router or the mi box or anything. And everything has been the same since the last 2yrs so you cant blame WiFi signal issues for that. So I am thinking this its some software bug, however, seeing how shitty xiaomi track record is when pushing stable updates, I am hesitant to update it. Nor can I afford a new streaming device if i end up bricking this one. Because due to inflation in my country these things have gotten ridiculously expensive.

I think there has been posts that it's still bricking boxes. But there weren't as many as before

I did, except for some new section in the settings and a weird content customization app nothing's changed.

Wow I didn't know the last update bricked some systems... I updated mine about a month ago and luckily it still works the same. I haven't noticed any improvement though.
