Convert Shield TV into a Faster Chromecast with Google TV?

by Life-Revolution-2454

I've been testing the new Chromecasts w/Google TV and i like the Search function on the remote so much that i want to Install the Google TV launcher along with Google TV Home APK and Google Base APK process as seen below in link to test converting my Shield to a Higher powered Chromecast with Google TV. Its just personal preference. What's also SO awesome is that on the new Chromecast, the Google search and remote works on ALL my sideloaded apps!

My problem is I don't have an original shield tv remote or a Chromecast Google TV remote either. I cant find out if the Chromecast remote will work with the Shield, nor can I find if the Shield TV remote will work with the Google TV launcher just like it does with the Chromecast...

  • Do I, purchase a Shield TV remote for Google TV launcher on shield tv?
  • Or Go for the Chromecast w/Google TV remote? Will this work?

Buying a remote almost costs as much as buying the new Chromecast w/Google TV!

I’ve paired Amazon Fire TV remote which I got in 2017 with my Nvidia Shield TV and it’s been working perfectly No voice search though… I believe the new one supports it

I'd buy this Google TV G1O remote if it didn't ship from China and take 10 years to get here. https://www.google.com/amp/s/9to5google.com/2021/11/08/google-tv-android-tv-replacement-remote-g10/amp/

I just don't see the need for this... I mean remote wise yeah you should get you something but other than that... I just don't see what the advantage is

I can confirm my Shield remote pairs with my CCwGTV. Haven't bothered with vice-versa, not a huge fan of the Google remote.

Do you prefer the layout? Opposed to the default Android TV launcher?

I used the Google TV launcher for a while with the Shield remote, and that worked fine. I ended up reverting to the Android TV launcher because Google TV wasn't very stable on the Shield hardware, but the remote wasn't an issue.
