Can an Android phone game that fully supports controller been played on Chromecast with Google TV?

by Morty____C137

I want to side load Rocket League Sideswipe onto Chromecast with Google TV, think this may work since the game fully supports game controller. I'll pair a xinput game pad to the Google TV.

Will it work?

Should I simply install the phone version of the apk onto the Google TV?

Thanks.

Usually, yes. If it's not explicitly designed for Android TV, it might not show up in the launcher (in which case you'll need to use something like Sideload Launcher to launch it), and some features might not work properly. But as long as you can also navigate all the menus and everything with a game pad, it will probably at least allow you to play the game.

It's not the game controller that's the issue. It's the SoC. Chromecast is intended for streaming only. It'lbdoesnt have the horsepower for gaming.

If you want to play games on it (sideload or otherwise) get a shield TV.

Another option is use moonlight to stream from your PC if you have an Nvidia GPU. Doesn't help you with android games tho
