The decision of Google to end the legacy remote app was the last straw. At first I got by rolling back remote services on my streaming device, but after the latest Android 12 updated to my phone the legacy Android remote app started repeatedly freezing, forcing rebooting my phone. Very annoying, to say the least.
So, I'm moving to a Fire Cube device, which has a fairly fast processor, apparently faster than any Ruko device, FWTIW. I have a Fire 4k stick in my travel trailer and my Android TV device will move there so that I can bring the Amazon remote home for use as a second remote on my new Cube device. I've been perfectly happy with the Fire stick, so I assume the Cube will be better given the stronger processor. Also, although the Cube does not have WiFi 6, it has Ethernet which will allow me a better connection. Finally, it is on sale right now with an extra 5% off if I use an Amazon branded credit card.
huh I don't get it, you ditched Android TV because the older remote app got replaced with the infinitely superior one in the google TV app?? why not just use that instead of the terrible old one
