Is it save to unplug Sony Google tv when it's in Standby mode?

by hassaan99

So i recently bought a Sony Google tv. Now when I'm done using the tv. I turn it off using the remote (which puts the tv in Standby mode) and then unplug the Power cord (so that it's protected from power surges).

Is it save to unplug Power cord when tv is in Standby mode?

If it has no shutdown option then it's OK.

There are different levels of Standby mode that you can configure in power saving setting. The one that is set by default is not really switching off the Tv (the screen yes but not a lot of the other functions ). In this case the system continues to operate and if you cut the power supply you may interrupt some activity like app updating. In most cases is not a problem but you should avoid it.

Set the power saving setting to max, this should greatly limit what the Tv doesn’t when in standby … and buy a surge protector for pace of mind!

And yeah, it is.

It’s NOT a safe if it is an OLED type TV. This type of TV does maintenance on the display (pixel refresh) while you are asleep…but this doesn’t happen every night…..

Get a good power bar/surge protector and use that to shut it off.
