Kinda new to Android TV. I'm looking to buy a Nokia Streaming box. Going to install a different launcher etc. Probably going to use it as a radio streaming often, but also Zoom.
Is there a way to control the unit, without turning on the TV. Can I use my Android phone as a remote control to open app's, or mirror the screen to my phone?
Or should I be looking for a different device?

Yes, you can use your Android phone as a remote. There are remote function in two apps, Google Home & Google TV (or Google Play Movies & TV)
You can mirror your phone screen, using Chromecast (the technology)
