Is there an alternative os to make my android tv faster?

by mayonesakraft

I have a Master G 65" 4k android tv, it works great in most apps, but it lags a lot in some like amazon prime and hbo. So I wanted to see if there was an alternative light weight versión of android tv I could install that could be faster. I have achieved this on android phones in the past but I don't know much of the android tv side. I have already disabled animations and limited background apps to 1 in the developer menu, but it is still very slow. Youtube and Netflix work great. Even emulators like snes and n64 work. I also uninstalled and disabled all bloatware that came pre installed, and rid the main menu of all channel apps. Any ideas?

Specs: I couldn't find much info of the tv I only know that it has 2 gb of ram, and 16gb of storage. Android version: 9

Model: Atv r2

Name of the device: TV master G 65"-2745720489

Yes that's called ..... amazon 4k stick or Chromecast with Google TV.

You better not hating me..lol

On serious note.. slow tv is because of the hardware inside

You can try using a chromecast with google tv. That solves most of your issues. Even a cheaper roku or firstick will do

No it's not possible. Just buy external android box

Buy a streaming device

I suspect it's the CPU that's the issue. You'd be better off with a Firestick 4k Max, which for some Amazon accounts is only $29 right now, or perhaps a Fire Cube or higher end Roku device.

In the future avoid built in systems if you can and focus on the TV. If the best one you can find comes with something built in, fine, but realize you'll be needing to supplement it with an external device long before the TV is end of life.

Only thing you can speed up is the home screen UI although it's already pretty light weight. You can install a 3rd party launcher if you are comfortable sideloading apps.

Small world. I got tired of the lagging and periodic freezing and was going to get a google home outlet so I could reboot it every night, and then saw that I could get a Roku Express 4K+ for $29 (still on sale). It took about an hour to set up and get logged in on all the apps. I've been really happy with it.
