Use GoogleTV as a wireless display

by fly-on-the-wall-01

I recently bought a TCL TV Series 6 with the Google TV option. I am trying to connect to it as a wireless display, but the TV doesn't show up on the options to connect to wirelessly.

I know that you can cast tabs in Chrome, but I have found that to be buggy. With Google TV can you connect as a wireless display? I've done it before, but only with a Roku TV

Chromecast doesn't support miracast if that's what you're asking.

Google TV (basically Android TV) devices don't support Miracast. Some manufacturers add it to their certain products.

Are you trying to connect to it from a PC? In Chrome, not only you can cast tabs or the webpage, you can cast the whole display (using Chromecast) . Same in Microsoft Edge

If you're trying to connect from an Android phone, that's app specific (also Chromecast). For example, when your phone & TV both are connected to the same WiFi network, a "cast" icon appears on top right corner when you go to YouTube (and any Chromecast supported apps) on your phone.
