My old flat tv only works without ground

i got an old 50" for free but didnt work

flashed green 5-6 times then went off

then i tried outlet ungrounded and it worked! of course you can just use extensioner without ground

just wanted to put this out since i couldnt find it when googling

is my ground potential in the house bad u think?

I think this might be a question for a different sub.

If you suspect that there's a problem with the outlet grounding in your house, you can get a pretty cheap and simple outlet tester that will be a good starting point.

The ground is protecting you from a failure inside the TV. By removing the ground you are now available to act as the ground connection for whatever failure there is. You might not like the sensation as the electricity flows through you rather than the ground wire.

Either get it fixed or send it to the ewaste dump. That is way better than you getting sent to the morgue.
