I'm due to get an A80J and am curious about how good the video looks on the built-in streaming apps provided via Google TV.
I have an LG C1 that I'm going to return soon, and I found that the video quality on things like the WebOS Disney+ app didn't look as good as on an Apple TV 4K. It just looked like it was running at a lower bitrate, with inferior picture detail/sharpness. I think Netflix also didn't look quite as good. Later, I found in online discussions that WebOS was known to have lower bitrates on Disney+, and maybe others.
How does the Sony fare? I primarily use Disney+, HBO Max, Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu.
Update I have the 43” X85J but haven’t purchased a 4K Apple TV for it yet, rather I use the built in apps for YTTV (non 4K version), HBO Max, Netflix etc. I’m not very impressed by the picture quality for sports which broadcast in 720 or 1080, but regular programming looks good.
