What is the point of a 4K television if it won't play 4K video properly?

Panasonic GX655 Android TV. When playing 4K video on Netflix or the built-in media player, the TV loses its shit; lagging, subtitles go out of sync, audio goes out of sync, seeking isn't possible, etc... while 1080p video works fine.

Check a few things:

  • is the TV firmware up to date?
  • Is the app up to date?
  • Go into the android settings and force stop, clear cache, open again
  • Check that you haven't installed too many apps on the system
  • Check your internet or wifi speed and reliability are good enough for 4k
