Best 4K support TV (direct play 4k plex)

by henkshark

Bought me a Samsung TV but found out it doens't direct play most of the Plex 4K content I get. I plan on returning this TV and want to get one that 'plays it (almost) all'. It is very hard to find info on the subject though, but I think I'll need to go Android on this one. Android also has an app in the store which I'd really like to have, so there's that as well.

Can you advice me on which TV I should get? I live in Europe so may not be able to get my hands on models that are sold in the US. Is this even something I should be chasing? Or would I be better off getting a Shield for *sigh* another 200 eypo.

OR... you get a box because the next tv might suck just as much.

Have you considered keeping your TV and using another device such as a 2019 Nvidia Shield TV Pro connected to your TV for Plex? I believe the Shield TV is still the de facto direct play device in the Android ecosystem.

I have a Sony X90j and it has played everything without problems so far. 4k remux with atmos and Dolby vision. 4k Web rips. I use an Nvidia Shield and Nvidia shield pro in other rooms and they may be slightly snappier but barely noticeable.

US models wouldn't work in Europe anyway without some adapter or power converter since the US electrical system is 60hz and Europe is 50hz.
