Hi, just got my news Philips 43PUS8506 Android TV (2021) and set it up with everything I need. As usual, some of the apps I need had to be sideloaded, but strangely, in contrast to my old Sony Android TV 2015, those apps, on launch, are already oriented correctly but still in portrait mode only using 1/3 of the screen's width.
I tried a whole lot of screen orientation apps (set orientation, etc...), which, with all permissions granted, had no effect. They all claim to be working, but nothing changes... I know they work though since they just do fine on one tablet and my other Android TV...
For me it seems that the OS already has some kind of orientation tool integrated which then prevents other apps to do they're supposed to.
Anyone with a useful hint?
EDIT: Isn't there perhaps a way to change default resolution/orientation directly in the apk?
I unpacked the apk, but don't know where to start looking for settings like this... the AndroidManifest.xml looks completely different to what I find it should look like...
Thx a lot, Eric
Set orientation app usually works ( this one btw)
You need to set the orientation to "Landscape" or "Automatic" [also try "Automatic (full)"].
If that doesn't solve it, then it's a TV issue
