Anyone ever use Unified Remote with an android box? Thinking of getting Mi Box, its decent right?

by bakutehbandit

Im thinking of getting a Xiaomi Mi Box, and was wondering if Unified Remote works with it.

Also if anyone has any comments on the Mi Box that would be helpful. It seems pretty decent from all ive seen.

As far as I know it only works with windows/mac/linux. You need server on the device you want to control with your smartphone and there is no server for android phones/tablets. You have app on your smartphone/tablet wich controls PC/MAC/LINUX not the other way around.

My MiBox has been was decommissioned a long time ago, it was flakey and slow.

I would highly recommend a Chromecast with Google TV instead, or a 4k Amazon firestick. I have multiples of each (the Google device is better) and they are much better than the MiBox was.

I don't know if either support the remote you're after though.

I eventually used a shield on my main tv. But I preferred the mi box over Roku/Chromecast before buying the shield.

You should check out the tivo stream 4k. Very smooth system and is Google certified. As for a remote I use the Rii Bluetooth remote. You can find it on Amazon make sure it's the one with the back lit keyboard. You can use it on just about anything from firestick to android and any computer. You will thank me later.
