[Help] Removed bloatware (I thought) from my Philips TV, now the TV boots to recovery after 2 minutes

by Complete_Original999

Hey,

I got tired of all the bloat and ADB:d into the TV to remove what I thought was only bloat. Apparently one of the philips apps i removed, either org.droidtv.playtv , org.droidtv.nettvrecommender , org.droidtv.nettv.market , org.droidtv.eum , org.droidtv.demome are the culprits I would gess. Anyone that knows where to find them so that I can adb them back? Tried updating firmware through recovery but those apps are still missing, resulting in the tv crashing to recovery after 1-2 mins. I read that these apps were safe to delete so it should'nt be causing problems. Also removed:

com.google.android.youtube.tvmusic

com.amazon.amazonvideo.livingroom

com.apple.atve.androidtv.appletv

com.google.android.youtube.tv

And a few other apps that could be uninstalled in normal android storage. Any expert that could give me some advice? I also cannot acces sources, so something with the tv is off

It still baffles me why people do this. It's not like the bloatware is 30 second videos you're being forced to watch. 🤷🏽‍♂️

This is some top-level tinkering, nicely done mate. org.droidtv.playtv sounds like something that could be useful for playing video on the TV. It comes pre-installed on Phillips TVs!

Seriously though have you already tried restoring the factory settings?

I recommend finding the OTA firmware, and re-installing/flashing it. You can usually find it on XDA (developers) platform. You don't have to pay for it

Did you actually root your device and uninstall them, or did you just freeze them? Have you tried factory resetting yet?

What is your Philips TV model and OS version?

I can pull APKs from my Philips TV, they might work. What is your model?

I would try restoring org.droidtv.eum first. It is probably used by TVs EPG/help.

Hello. It's not recommended to remove any app from TV. Most of the Appa you removed aren't bloatware

EUM - displays info about features when you are in setting app. PlayTV- DVBT/Satellite channels.

You can try software upgrade using OTA/USB to see whether it recovers. Download sw only specific to your tv model.
