Dear Google, kindly stop trying to force your junk bloatware on me after updates. It's mad annoying having to track down some toggle buried under five menus to turn off some spam that I don't want and didn't ask for that clutters my homescreen with a bunch of apps I don't use.

Urgh, seriously the amount of posts about the home screen recommendations is now as annoying as the actual ads themselves.

If you don't like the launcher just change it for another one.

The ads pay for the continued development and upkeep of Android TV, if you want the Google launcher you'll have to deal with them.

Have you tried Apps Only mode?

Why don't you shit it down?

AlXBG

Turn on "Apps Only" mode

Kodi_Fan_Omicron

Suggestion, add the app "Nebula_Manager" so you can have two favorites' row of apps on your home screen. App is in the Play Store.

That can be turned off, It's been part of Android TV for probably 4 years. It's just a channel.

pihole + blacklist "androidtvwatsonfe-pa.googleapis.com" = problem solved. You'll still see some default promos for Google services, but that's it.

Piccolo-San-

It's almost as bad as Fire TV now

AdamH21

Just dont use Smart TVs.

I dont understand why people are trying to defend this? can it be disabled? sure. but the fact that is enabled by default is still terrible.

not to mention OP, unless he edited his post addressed turning it off. then people accuse OP of not reading the Reddit.
