Hi everybody,
I need your help. I just connected an old 320GB USB HDD to my Sony XR55A80J and let it format and "transfer the data" within the system settings.
The question is, why all the apps seem they are not using it? If I go into the settings and look into Netflix for eg. it says that it's still using the internal shared memory (I don't know the exact english terms, I'm using the italian OS).
Same as when I install a new app, it still uses the internal memory.
Am I wrong to think that using a USB HDD would "spare" the "stress" of streaming apps to the internal memory?
Thank you
IIRC, only apps that are coded to support adopted storage will automatically install in the external usb drive and most Android TV apps doesn't support that.
There is option to forced move the apps to adopted storage under the developer setting but some apps does not support this and the app will stop working.
Also, it is not advisable to use HDD as internal storage due to low random access performance which will affect the overall performance of both system and app.
It is better for these apps remain in internal storage.
