Almost all of my 4K collection has been converted to MKV. Just wanted to see which of these would be the best choice for me. I would like DV (I know it won’t be exactly FEL but some devices apparently does BL+RPU, and it works well, this is the biggest point of confusion) and Lossless Atmos (TrueHD and other lossless formats). It does not need to play any of the streaming services. It will be used exclusively for files stored on a NAS.
Shield TV Pro - read it has a red shift problem with DV
Zidoo Z9X - don’t know much about it
DuneHD Pro Vision 4K Solo - don’t really need the internal HDDs
DuneHD Real Vision 4K - seems like the same thing as other one without internal storage.
MINIX NEO U22-XJ - this is supposed to able to play the DV FEL P7 from MKV but I have no idea if it does. Don’t know if it can do lossless audio either
Reavon UBX100 - as a UHD player maybe this can do DV FEL P7 from MKV?
Anything else I should be considering? I am trying to see what would be the best for my case. It’s all a bit too confusing.
Hope I gave enough information. Thanks
I ended up buying a Zidoo Z9X for that purpose. It doesn't have the red shift from the Shield (I have both and just use the Shield for streaming services now), which I unfortunately notice pretty badly on my C8.
The Zidoo has a few quirks but support is pretty good and their official forums are very active. I'd say look into it as I think it will do what you need.
