If u love in America Walmart has a sale on and Android Tv box called ONN 4k box for $20. It's will keep the kiss principal because once you set up the remote properly. The remote will power on/ off tv, control TV volume, switch TV inputs and of course the Android box. U will only need that one remote instead of having to use 2.

If the TV is not broke and/or less then 10 years old, just get an AndroidTV box; but if the TV is old then upgrading to a new nice Sony/Hisense/Philips panel_TV_set with Androidtv or GoogleTV built-in is the "easy" solution.
Thanks gang for all your help, I'm leaning towards a CHiQ 43 Inch 4K UHD HDR Smart Android LED TV U43G7H. Instead of a box.
Buy a decent Android TV box, the complexity is not likely to be any different than an Android TV, and chances are it will get updates long after the Android TV, TV has become unusable.
If the old TV is not a CRT type, and has a good quality picture, Android TV box all the way.
If you have to buy a new TV buy one with the best picture, and you can then add a Android TV box later.
But end of day, whatever is your preference.
