Incredibly frustrated. Controlling mibox from Google Home no longer works

by vexorian2

It's a ridiculous state of things.

So in the beginning there was the Android TV remote app, it worked. It had some weird glitches when using keyboard input and trying to use cursors. but otherwise , it worked.

Then one day Google decided to stop this app from working for no reason. And the alternative they gave us was to use a Google TV app, which remains region-locked . So , basically Google removed the feature of being able to control the Android TV box using your phone.

Months, and I mean months later, Google Home app and Mibox finally update in a way that allows the google home app to control it, and it seems like it's finally good.

But then two weeks later, the feature has disappeared, again.

What's worse is that the feature was never added to my google TV and One of my other miboxes is still working. So it looks like the existence of this feature is completely random. Will you get it to work in your Android/Google TV app? God knows.

  • Google removed the Android TV remote app because it didn't get updated for 4^(1/2) years (but I agree that they could've handled the transition better)
  • The other reason was they were working on the new remote (duh!)
  • Google TV app is region-locked, but the remote is not .
  • What do you mean by "the feature has disappeared"??
  • The existence of this feature is not "random". What's your "Google TV" device?

The control option is appearing for my mibox. The problem is that is impossible to turn on mibox 'cause it' s connected through wifi and when mibox is sleeping it answers just to the paired bluetooth remote control. :(
