Can I integrate local channels to the new Chromecast with Google TV?

by Srtdriver737

I currently receive local channels via antenna and I was wondering if it’s possible to integrate these local channels to the Chromecast ? Is there an app for this?

LiveChannels app by Google.

The key is getting your antenna to talk to the Chromecast for Google TV for which, you will need something like an HDHomeRun box if you don't already.

I have FiOS TV and I use an HDHomeRun Prime with 3 cable tuners and an HDHomeRun Flex 4K, hooked up to an antenna for 4 OTA tuners on top

Open Live Channels, configure your sources (in my case) both HDHomeRuns and you honestly have the sickest TV front end IMO.

It is silky smooth and I don't think I could live without it.

All of my primary TVs use NVidia Shields as cable boxes essentially with the added bonus of OTA channels.

My projector for the backyard uses a Shield Tube.

My guest room TVs get the Chromecast with Google TV treatment.

Run a Plex server with a OTA usb tuner on a pc or mac and put the Plex app on your devices and enjoy.

You can't integrate them but if all you want is to watch your local channels through your Google TV device then yes you can, but you will need an HDHomeRun network tuner and a TV app that will get the streams from HDHomeRun and play them on your Google TV device.

There are a few TV Apps that you can use but I would recommend CosmiTV Player

I appreciate all the replies but I decided I will get the Airtv 2 which will let me connect my HD antenna and also these local channels will be integrated into the Sling menu

The new Chromecast has Android TV, you can get a HD HomeRun, connect it to your antenna and ethernet and use the 1. Plex app or 2. Channels app. Both work great and have a free option is you don't need or want to DVR.
