Has anyone had success using a flash drive for extended internal storage?

by Dholtz001

My Hisense TV only came with 4GB of storage, which isn’t enough. I’ve tried the feature to extend the “internal storage” with a flash drive a few times with two different thumb drives. However, each time when I format via the Google TV settings it creates two partitions, and only a tiny 16MB partition is usable for storage. Also, when I try the drive on my computer, Windows won’t let me change the size of the 16MB partition. Anyone have better luck getting around this problem?

When you format it as extended storage, it gets encrypted and "married" to your Android TV. You can then move installed apps to it, and if you want to transfer files to it, you'll have to do it using a file manager on the TV, or some kind of file server, FTP being the most popular.

The 4GB storage usually refer to usable storage not the actual hardware storage.

Where do you see the partition? In the Google TV storage section or file manager?
Did you migrate the data to the usb drive after the format process and what's the storage size of the USB drive?
