Hey everyone! I bought an Onn. Streaming Box at Walmart a couple of days ago, intending to plug it into my car's backup camera screen and run Torque Pro w/ a Bluetooth OBD2 dongle, for digital gauges. I sideloaded the apk onto the box and used a remote app w/ mouse cursor to set up the layout, but when I went to finally pair my OBD2 dongle, it wouldn't pick it up. Since the screen just says "Accessories", I'm guessing you can only pair things like headphones, controllers, keyboards, etc.
Is there any way around this? I'm waiting for a powered OTG cable to be delivered tomorrow, and I plan on rooting and (probably) flashing LineageOS, but in screenshots of Lineage it looks like the Bluetooth screen just straight up says "Connect Remote or Headphones".
If all else fails, I guess I could get a WiFi dongle or use a USB adapter w/ OTG (hopefully those would work), but this limitation has to just be a software thing, so not being able to use a dongle I already own (and use on other Android devices) would suck.
And for anyone wondering, yes, the Android TV UI optimized for giant 4k TV's does not work well on a 5" 480p HDMI -> RCA screen, LOL.
I think it has to do with the Android tv OS and how the torque app is written. U can sideload apps to Android tv but it may not play well since it's not identical to pure standard Android that you would find on a phone or tablet. I had a similar set up and used an old phone that I hard wired into my center console. Probably too much work tho. I don't think I'd do it again.
If it rear camera has an app, u could replace it rca screen with an inexpensive tablet and hard wire it where you have ur screen currently. 🤷🏽♂️
