Slideshow App to show PowerPoint presentations?

by seenjeen

Hey guys, I have a couple of talks coming up, and I have access to a 70" TV. Instead of plugging my laptop into the TV, I figured I could sideload my PowerPoint presentation (or a PDF/JPG export) onto my Android TV stick and use the remote to advance through the slides. There won't be reliable wifi access so the slideshow has to be stored locally.

Does anyone know of a good app for this?

Suggested alternative approach:

  • Use your phone to start a Hotspot
  • Connect your laptop and TV stick to the same hotspot network
  • Broadcast

If you can't do a hotspot, you can launch an ad-hoc network using only your laptop, and do the same thing.

Whichever approach, be sure to test it somewhere else first, so you're familiar with the steps and work out any kinks.

If your slides are simple static pages/images, you can create a google photos album and use a remote control to browse through it on the tv. If your slides are sophisticated, consider sideloading the google slides app but I'm not sure about navigating with a remote control, never tried. Worst case scenario, you'll need a mouse.
