MI TV 50 4X. Bought in 2020 march. - TV apps were crashing and the system updates were failing. - service engineer comes and tries forcefully update the system using his personal USB which obviously fails - now instead of fixing the software, i am being told to replace the motherboard.

Find the latest software version or a stable build version of your TV, put in on a pen drive and update your TV. Just google how to update "your android tv name and model".

This is just the bootloader for anything android. Nothing to worry about, your motherboard is intact.

They always try a software refresh first ,did the engineer confirm mainboard replacement? If so ,they should replace under warranty

Based on the error I think he selected the wrong option on the recovery screen. The sideload option is for when you’re flashing from a computer. The option he should’ve selected from flashing from a usb stick is ‘Apply update from EXT’

Do you know what file he tried to flash?

I found this on Google: https://dumps.tadiphone.dev/dumps/xiaomi/dangaluhd

Heh - “defualts”. Is that one of those deliberate mistakes put in to catch people copying it?

Can anyone help me with fixing this.

On reading the update logs - which fortunately is available, it says - signature verification failed.

failed to verify against RSA 0

Failed to verify whole-file signature

I wish all manufacturers would produce at least one "dumb" TV in their lineup....or just start making reasonably priced monitors up to 80" or so.

Replace the motherboard? A chromecast or fire stick won't cost much more. Android tv built in is shitty and laggy and has oem bloat anyways.

Forget the android present inside tv. Buy an external android device like Chromecast with Google tv
