My previous TV had voice control on the remote. When buying our new TV we didn't think it was an important feature but it turns out we miss the microphone in the remote a lot more than we thought we would.
Does anyone know whether a Philips remote with microphone (for a different model TV) would work on our TV? The software is clearly open to voice control - when we press the "search" button on the remote it even expects voice input - but I have no idea about compatibility.
Any experience with this?
Philips intentionally disabled this functionality on 706. Even the option to pair a new bt remote is gone from settings. There are workarounds. You can use activity manager to request new pairing process from OS, then pair remote from 806 model or similar, which has microphone. But i read people saying you loose pairing every few days and have to do pairing again for remote to work. Other, simpler option, is to buy a generic remote with google assistant support from aliexpress or such, one that comes with usb dongle. They work as they should, no hassles with repairing, but you get limited functionality. Like no more ambilight control, no input controls, just basic remote with dpad, ok, home, back, netflix youtube buttons and such.
