Best Android TV as replacement to PS5?

by DonutEnvironmental15

I bought a PS5 (my first console) a year ago. I was really excited thinking I'll be playing games I've missed out on over the past decade as well as trying out some new games. I've tried a few of the most popular games and exclusives like TLOU, infamous, uncharted, etc. I wanted to like them, but I quit each after a few hours of forcing myself to play them.

90% of what I do on PS5 is watch Netflix, Plex and Twitch, sometimes YT. Basically all functions of an Android TV. The PS5 is a bit too expensive for me to use it just to watch Netflix so I'm planning to sell my PS5 and get an Android TV device, one that will perform the previously mentioned tasks as well as my PS5.

Or would you suggest I just get a very good TV like an LG/Sony OLED or the newest Samsung QD-OLEDs instead?

My PS5 is currently connected to a 4K 32" monitor.

TL;DR: I don't play games on my PS5, only watch Netflix & Plex. I'd like to sell the PS5 and replace it with an Android TV device which will perform same (4K, HDR, Wifi6).

Shield would allow you to stream games and is the best Android experience BUT, if you are just going to stream get the $20 onn box at Walmart. You may have to restart it every so often but it's supposed to be solid

Shield would be a suitable replacement

Chromecast with Google TV if you don't want to break your wallet. Shield TV if you do. I used to recommend Shield TV because it was the only good device, but CCwGTV changed that. The only difference is if you want to play games from the device versus streaming.

Don't bother looking for a TV with Google TV on it. External allows for upgrading. I'm doing LG C1 OLED with the CCwGTV.

I just got an OLED and it's awesome, but, this is way, way more money than an Android TV.

QD-OLED is even more expensive.

The best streaming device is the NVidia Shield Pro, especially if you have local 4k/HDR content that you want to stream via Plex.

Otherwise the Chromecast with Google TV is fine for service based (Netflix, etc.) 4k/HDR.
