Native Android TV app VS sideload and apk

by V4N0

Hello everyone!

Help me remove all doubt… as far as performance/response time goes there’s any noticeable difference between a native/official Android TV app or a sideloaded Apk from “standard” Android?

I’m waiting for Microsoft to release an official TV app for Gamepass but I have the lingering feeling that most of the problems I have right now are related to my device more than the app!

Performance should be the same on both platforms. It's the UI navigation that could be problematic. You might need a regular or air mouse to be able to navigate regular android apps on android TV.

There is no answer to that. Every app is different.

You and the rest of xCloud community are waiting for same thing, but unfortunately GamePass on TV are not the no.1 priority for MS. So, to answer to your question regarding apps.....is is compatible, because share the same android platform, but the interaction with app are made different. Phones and tablets use touch control vs Android TV app that are use ONLY direction contro: Up, down, left, right, ok, back. And all TV apps are written to work in landscape. That's why you need to use a mouse and keyboard when you are use sideloaded app made for phones.

GamePass never worked on Android TV. The only compatibility is a simple shortcut for Android TV. (Normal phonr app sideloaded to Android TV don't show icons on Apps menu.)
