Newbie Questions for a Newbie User

I'm looking to pick up a couple new tvs, and the one I had my eye on comes packed with Android. I've used Roku for years, so I'm not familiar with Android's tv OS or what's capable on it, so I'm hoping someone will be kind enough to answer my silly questions.

The streaming services available for Android TV, are they limited to the specific select handful that are listed under "apps for android tv" or can you install any streaming app that's available on Google Play? And if the latter, do they actually work well out of the box, or is there a fair bit of fiddling and potential "Well that doesn't work quite right" scenarios due to being an "unsupported" device?

If it’s in the play store then it can be used. If it doesn’t work right then that’s either on the developers fault or the user not understanding how the app works. Could also be the tv but that will mean buying something really broken. If you instill something outside the play store then you’ll get a coin flip.

Buy a TV for the picture quality only and buy a streaming box for whatever platform you prefer. If the TV you want has Android, then yes, everything on the ATV Play Store will work on the TV.

Just get the tv with good picture quality and hook up an external streaming device. If you only need to watch live TV, movies and not gaming get a Amazon firestick or the onn tv box from Walmart for only $19.99. I have both and you can add apps you like. Both stream amazingly
